Construction
"Sirenia" is a gaff rigged schooner and was built by Dennis Knock to the design of Murray Peterson. The designer is well known for his renditions of traditional workboat designs. She is carvel plank on frame, exceptionally well built, employing high quality materials and workmanship. Planking is 1 1/2" fir on 3 1/2" X 2 1/2" oak frames on 16" centers. In 11/06 the owner hauled her and had the transom re-planked and replaced the horn timber, making her sound throughout.

Interior
There are accommodations for six. There is a separate forward cabin with "vee" berth. The forward cabin is accessed from the deck via hatch/companionway, and also from the main cabin by passing through the separate, mid ship, engine room. The head is to port, accessed from the forward cabin. It can also be accessed from the main salon by way of the engine room.  The main salon is accessed from the cockpit via hatch/companionway. There are settees port and starboard that convert to berths. The seat backs swing up to form berths and the seat bottoms form a lower berth. There is a drop leaf table on center between settees, and there is a chart table to the forward bulkhead to starboard, with drawers for storage. A wet locker is found at the starboard side while the galley is aft to port. The galley is equipped with a stove/oven and sink to the port side. The ice box/refer (Adler/Barbour compressor) is to starboard.  You will find the interior to be well lit and ventilated, with a skylight, hatches, and fixed ports.  The High Seas Diesel Cabin Heater will keep you cozy.

Engine and Machinery
The Isuzu BOD60 diesel is fresh water cooled through a heat exchanger, discharged through wet exhaust. There are dual lever controls at the helm. Power is delivered through a 1 1/4 " dia shaft to a three blade 17" propeller. There is also a Yanmar diesel auxiliary, model L40, driving a 100 amp Balmar Alternator.
